The dire wildfire season has engulfed Canada, with over 1,000 active fires blazing across the country, including a staggering 230 in the Northwest Territories alone. The wildfire, spanning a vast 163,000 hectares (402,781 acres), looms just 17 km from Yellowknife. The fire's trajectory is expected to intersect Highway 3, the sole route connecting the city to the rest of Canada, on Thursday. The perilous situation prompted a declaration of emergency by the Northwest Territories, with the Canadian military mobilized to combat the flames and provide assistance to those in need.
